Happy Easter

As you read yesterday, becoming a follower of Christ does not mean that your life suddenly becomes hundy-dory...much as I sometimes wish it did. What it does mean is that, despite the difficulties that face us, we still have hope. This hope is never more clearly defined then on Easter Sunday. Friday evening we were encouraged by being reminded of Christ's sacrifice for us. Every time I think about it I am incredibly awed by the fact that He was willing to die for us. Today we celebrate the fact that three days later, by Biblical standards, He rose from the dead. This is a miracle unlike any of the others in the Bible. He is the only person to ever conquer death. Granted, He is also God, so after we die we're not going to rise from the dead in three days. However, He allows this miracle to be recreated in billions of little ways in all of our lives. Every time something incredibly awful happens, the next day/week/month is always better. I can have the worst day of my life, but I have hope. Christ sacrifice for us on the cross is the biggest gift He could possibly give us, but He goes even further by giving us the awesome gift of hope. I'm not saying the gifts are in any way comparable, I would choose the forgiveness of all my sins every time, but He cares even more than that for us. He gives us infinity chances, and makes them worth living. This may be coming out wrong, but hopefully you can get the idea. He died for us, wiping out every sin we would ever commit. Then He took the second step and gave us hope. This to me is what Easter represents. The idea that I can have an absolutely horrible day, but know that God is still with me. I hope you all can rejoice in this gift to the extent I do. Rejoice, Honor, Celebrate. Happy Easter blogger land.
